Ride ons in plays barns

Post by Style »

Im after some advice. My experience with ride ons has been pretty crap. I had a Mr Man one in a leisure centre that cost me £500 and took about £10 a month, then I bought a Fun Bus for a great pub that did really well for two months then the landlord left and I got kicked out.

Last week a play barn approached me and asked for one. Its a young play barn (under 5s ish). I've been looking at a GOGO Pony or a Coney Island Carousel. Any good? Or anything else people would recommend.

Ive got two other barns Ive had a chat with today and both of these will probably take one as well so Im hoping to do a deal by buying 3.

Any advice/recommendations/observations?

Thanks

Andy

Sorry Andy,
Cannot help. Thought about toys/rides but mandatory annual checks/maintenance/costs against projected earnings frightened us away.

The market up here for rides is pretty much addressed, not much scope for us.

Hi Matt,
So I was filling up my machines at a shopping centre and was watching a guy empty his ride on machines, so I go and have a chat. Ask him how profitable that line of business was and if any special areas have to be covered. He said that you need to have the correct liability insurance, the machines have to be insured separately, risk assessment, service log for individual machines etc and everything falls within the banner of HSE.
He could see what I do so perhaps he was trying to frighten me off so less competition? Who knows! His takings was not brilliant.

Hi
Out of interest Pablo, what deal do you have with Shopping Centres? Do they take commission like pubs/clubs etc, or do they charge for space etc??

Rides are normally tested to ADIPS standard although as Matt says not mandatory. Obviously PL insurance is required.

Speak to John from Janet and John rides for any requirements, he has a warehouse full

In Play Barns, each ride on should take 2/300 month.
