expand or dont expand?
Hi this is a question for the big operators, I operate around 300 mcs now and I want to get to 400 mcs within the next 12mnths. Is it worth keep investing in this business and growing or should I be looking to get out of the business? Is anybody else investing heavily growing their business?
Regards
Rich

I think you have to keep looking for business just to survive. We've had pubs close, pubs change hands and dont want our machines. Its been a nightmare lately. To be honest i'm sick to death of the pubs with all the trouble they bring!!!!!! Its a Fact, no Business is easy,If it was, we would all be self employed.
Vending is great IMO, would not want to be in many other sectors in the hospitality industry, I can tell you.
Vending is easy to run from home and avoid business rates etc, no rent or fixed costs to worry about, no bad debts to chase which is a SERIOUS ADVANTAGE in the current economic climate.
Sweet stock has never been so cheap!!
Ok, the tower takes are down, no sweat, just leave them longer!
Fuel savings to be had as a result.
Get your best sites to ring you , saves so much chasing around.
I have cut out some dead wood in my rounds and been selling off machines on here and eBay.
I work around 3 -4 days a week and still make full time income.
To be fair though, I dont have much in the way of competition in my area as they are mostly a bunch of inbreds!

Some good advice there, get sites to ring you is a massive for me, give them a freebie out of date or damaged, works wonders.

Re: expand or dont expand?
I have nearly 400 machines.
About 350 sited and 50 odd either need resiting or fixing.
I am always looking to expand my business as sales seem to keep dropping off and keep losing either major sites to competitors or
sites shut down.
It seems a constant battle to keep same amount of money coming in.
I cant complain as I do make a good living from this business.
But this week I have only done 2 days work which is worrying for amount of machines I got.
So I have clearly got room to expand my business more.
Just bought another 24 machines from a disgruntled tubz vending operator last week so that should keep me busy trying to find out how to get to them all.

Hi Mike. Thats great. I take it you deal with tubz vending?? I never seem to get the chance to buy up disgruntled operators. I make your post spot on.... Regards Al.mikeholness wrote:I have nearly 400 machines.

I think Nigel is right, but I do think pubs are getting more and more difficult to find and keep. I would like to try different sites types and that is my goal for early 13, subject to me being well enough to return to the job.
I ask all my sites to ring when the machine is low if we have not been, but they rarely do, even though my number is on the machine. I really hate arriving at a site that is low, to find out it has needed refilling over a week ago, because they have had an event, or its been jammed for the best part of a month since you last visited.
