Warning...Please use this site to sell leads

A rather well known non-payer has not paid for a site offered to him last year. Having read the back story to his non payment for other members, I thought I would give him the benefit of the doubt. As of date I have emailed, PMed and called several times with no response. All very polite requesting payment, but to no avail. My lesson has been learnt. ALL SITES SHOULD BE PUT THROUGH THE LEAD SYSTEM HERE. That way you will be assured of your payment.

I have found 99% of members here to be honourable, decent people. Men of their word. I have never been let down before.

It is entirely up to Matt how he handles this members account. I just hope the offender doesn't do this to other members.

As the amount owed is small I will persue the matter through the civil court and would encourage members in such circumstances to take a stand.

I have been contacted by the person who you refer to Gavin and have now heard their side of this story. As I understand it, this was a lead generated on your web page and you have not visited this site. I also understand that the site has refused the machine 3 times, so I have removed my comments above, as I thought you did cold call site finding.

With all due respect the lead was in Consett some considerable distance from deepest darkest Dorset. A simple short phone call or email from the vendor discussing any problems was all that was needed. I am surprised he has been refused a machine install but I will email the shopping arcade manager to find out why. The lead did take up to 2 hours of my time dealing with emails and phone calls between shopping arcade manager and the vendor. The lead would not have been established without the website. Shall any leads that come from my google ads be offered up free of charge?

With all respect Gavin, if you are selling leads then it is up to you to ensure they are properly qualified before being offered for sale. A website hit, in my mind, does not constitute a qualified lead. I wouldn't pay upfront for any website leads without as least visiting first.

That's why its best to use the forum to buy & sell leads Pete, as the money (once paid) is held for a period until machine is sited. Best for both parties involved.

The lead was qualified in terms of the numerous discussions held with the shopping arcade manager about the site suitability The site was sold after I had made enquiries over several days with the arcade manager. The operator was aware that the site was not a shopping mall, more of a shopping arcade. Pete, you have a valid point about a site lead generated by a website hit. If the operator wanted to do that before accepting then fair enough, it makes sense. If the quality of the lead was in question then the fee could be reassessed, I didn't have a problem with that. My concern was with the operator not responding to communications, once the site had been accepted. Numerous emails and phone calls were exchanged beforehand so for no response at checkout time left me concerned. There has been positive communication in the past few days and I am happy the situation is resolved.

I think another point that caused the operator issues was the arcade manager changing the goalposts on numerous occasions. If I had known the background problems experience between the operator and the site owner a little more, it would have definitely helped the situation.

Following this thread the operator and I have reached an amicable agreement.

Point taken Gavin, even if a bit late replying! Of course thats the other half of the problem of site finding, you issue a perfectly good site and don't get paid for it. People are always looking for site finders, you go out find 20 sites, that's £500 please, then the argument starts. Dave finds good sites but he's owed money.

A decent work round is to pay a third party upfront and when the work is completed funds are then released to the site finder..

In my eyes as a site finder there are numerous hurdles and obstacles in providing a service that will always categorically provide good/excellent sites. You are always going to find a mix of good and fairly average. No one knows an area better than the operator there and if he has his head screwed on he will have secured the majority of the decent sites. Also you are often told "oh no you will not find any other operators out there" only to find a shedload of competitors machines. Operators can advise of the wide range of free houses in there location only to find this is not the case. How do you definitely know the time you call you will speak to the right person...often enough they are out.
