Hi any one enlighten me as to the introduction of the new £1 coin. What effect will this have on tubz vending vending machines.

Re: £1 coin
Assuming the new coin is same thickness as current one then a new plate on the coin mech will be required for around £10

Re: £1 coin
I think this will be the time when I increase prices-especially pringles.

Re: £1 coin
Yes, the new pound coin is going to be interesting times. Sales with towers at the moment are good as people will happily use a £1 for a vend.
I draw reservations if we tried to get people to pay more than that, even if the contents increased proportionally, it is a psychological barrier and I am sure, we will all lose money through lost sales if that was the case. Problem is that suppliers just might try and enforce a price hike through increasing the cost of products etc therefore, we might have to consider changing the coin mechanism to accept more than a £.
I was always going to see if I could get £1.50 coin mechanisms as a means of future proofing the towers for the future with the emphasis on blanking of the 50p part of the mechanism. Trouble is, can you see anyone purchasing 4 x Toblerone/Pastilles for £1.20 or £1.50 etc and what of the Smarties packets?
I hope sensibility wins the day, as I cringe at the cost of some of the products we sell at a £1 today!
2017 is certainly going to be interesting, will I still be in this business? I really do not know!
I do not sell pringles, not even sure of the vend price, are they £1.50/£2.00?
The restricted size of the tubs in the towers is a problem itself in relation to value for money, some products are starting to look half full or is it half empty?
All we need is a special tax on sugar to satisfy the obesity brigade and then we are doomed!
