national contracts
could we form a group and try and get a national contract with somebody to supply either sweet mcs or novelty toy mcs. i was thinking supermarket chains for the toy mcs and other pub companys that dont already have a national contract with a company. we have 1000s of mcs between us and can offer national coverage with a local service.

Re: national contracts
the biggest problem with toy's in supermarkets and service stations is simply that we cannot compete. Photo-me offer 6 figure sums just to get the contracts its just something 1000 strong forum couldn't do.
We would be better going after big pub chains.
Cheers

Re: national contracts
Dont make the mistake of thinking these national contracts are like a pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow, they can turn out to be your worse nightmare!
Very often you get screwed for commission!
We are talking 30 - 50% here, and thats just for starters!
Once you have made a MAJOR investment in equipment, they know they really have you by the short and curlys and start demanding even more!
You only have to forget to follow "proceedure" in one site and get caught and you are suddenly looking at 30 days to remove ALL your equipment from ALL there sites.
Its never good for any small Business to rely on a hand full of Big Customers, you are wide open and vunerable if one falls out of bed with you!
Its never happened to me as I dont chase big contracts!
My reason is that often you are dealing with accountants and feckless yes men who dont give a toss about you and only care about the companies balance sheet and how good the extra revenue will make them look.
I have seen many national contracts in vending won and lost over the years and it seems to always be the death of the vending company when the big contracts are lost.
Names that spring to mind are Mr Bean, Matrex (mates condoms) Island Vending and more beside.
Cheers
Nigel

Re: national contracts
No harm in trying though nigel?
Give it a go and just say you run a group of operators uk wide and negotiate, if you get a good deal then great. The one thing is because we are all independent we are not reliant on large contracts, if they agree great if they don't nothing lostU

Surely wiv big capacity toy mcs its worth it even at 30% Comm as you don't have to service till every 2/3 mnths so your taking more money every service so can afford 30% comm, also wiv toy mcs they very rarely brk dwn. Can quote sone figures to the company say if they have 100 pubs each mc avgs £30 a mnth that's £10800 a yr commision for the company.

Re: national contracts
Good idea in principle, but if you did engage with a national pub, or other business, you would have to guarantee that you had operators willing to install machines in all their sites countrywide.
Before you pick a business to target you need to establish if you have operators in all areas of the country where they have outlets, willing to invest what could be a chunk of cash. A chain is only as strong as your weakest link, so everyone who signs up, needs to be prepared to meet their obligations, as one bad experience at an outlet could cause the whole house of cards to collapse.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: national contracts
im with flint on this. Poisoned chalice. 2 disasters my end for you Little chef - bought a few grands worth of machines. 3 months later they shut down half the sites and kick you out of the other half. Butlins. One good year, lots of hassles and damages then they kick you out and buy there own machines.
