Funny way to lose sites

Post by part-time-operator »

Sold 5 machines through eBay the other day...when the guy came to pick them up it turned out he was the new landlord of my sites. He said he's putting a couple in his pubs and selling the rest on to a few other landlords... :shootself:

So now it looks like I'm losing a few sites and I'm going to have to collect those machines and put them on Ebay lol! I hope this doesn't catch on.

Its got to be a very good site to make it work for him. His stock is going to cost him more than you and go out of date before he has sold it. You should try doing a deal with him where he buys just the stock he needs from you.

A good way to put off a landlord with big ideas is to point out that you need 9 different lines to fill a machine , and you need to rotate lines once a month. 9 boxes £500 & 2 boxes of new stock per month 100 quid on top.

Add on machine cost, stock that gets stolen by staff, storage, out of date stock and then breakdowns they have to fix themselves and the cost of them as well.

Point out it is a workable business and you can introduce them to suppliers if they wish to pursue .

Then point out that realistically you need 200 towers to make a living and probably 10 machines to run it without making a loss.

Works for me with big vending machines .(figures obviously been adjusted )

Not true!

You can purchase mixed boxes of products of tubz vending!

So for a Tower you would only require three boxes to keep a machine full, with rotate stock available.

Well that is the case with tubz vending website!

Agree with numbers to make it a worthwhile business I.e 200 machines - I have over 100+ but do not draw any profits/salary, use profits to pay for machines and stock! this has worked for past six months.

Very fortunate that I have other income/cash.

But as Matt has suggested, 200 machines or more is required to make a realistic living in this line of business. Wow! That is an awful lot of site finding giving that you would be rotating at least 5/10% of sites every other month through natural wastage etc!

This business is hard!

Part time operator!

What area are you in?

I do very little business with pubs! They always seem to be closing

And the ones that I have, I intend on removing machines this week from two of them as sales are not particularly good!

That will leave two pubs left, maybe I could sell machines too them and stock!

What sort of sites do you have then? Pubs seem to be the best historically although as you say they close, change hands and larger chains wont let you in

I try and avoid pubs mainly because they already have towers or have had towers and do not seem to want anymore!

The large pubs as you say are large conglomerate s and will not let you in!

I do business with anyone who will take a tower but as I say avoid pubs - not that many these days as they all appear to be disappearing, I hardly drink so this is based on observation - however, if you are fortunate to be in a city I guess there would be many!

I have a couple of pubs that do about 10 tubs a month so they have to go.

Maybe not true , but call it a white lie to dissuade your entrepreneurial landlord ;-)
