Re: Pricing and Suppliers...My Experience...Have your say
Hi Noel
Good post.I had a good chat myself with Johnny last week and was impressed with my chat.
He has certainly given me something to think about.
I take it tubz vending will not of had the good news yet.
No doubt Simon will be on the phone in the morning.
I would be interested to know what he says to you after what has been said recently in the closed forum.
Hope all goes well with the change over.

Well now's the time to negotiate Nigel. If you want my pricelist from tubz vending I'll send it to you. Mike thanks for that, no Simon doesn't know yet but I'm sure the story will reach home quick enough.

100% correct Pete, most of who we deal with become friends & stay with us through thick & thin!PGBrew wrote:This reminds of that joke about, three tramps sitting on a park bench, all out of work ex tower snack salesmen. One tramp says to the 'and I thought I was the cheapest in the business and the other two said 'so did I'. The moral of the story is of course; If you're selling on price alone you're going under. Service and understanding your customer needs sre also important.

Noel thats great news. I do go on on the phone abit but only because I am lucky enough to be an operator as well which means I like to discuss and exchange views on vending, hearing what other people do and telling people what I do can only help everyone's business and if I can do that then I have done my Job, of course selling stock is a plus.
Vending is one of those industrys where you can openly chat and learn from competitors because generally they do not operate in your territory and if they do most are very civilised sharing experiences.
Cheers
Jonny

As I see it. Hurleys publish a standard price list on the forum. I understand how tubz vending operate by matching advertised prices, but it seems that you have to contact Sweetfix for their prices as the banner was out of date.
Jonny, can you please let me know why you dont publish a price list or let all forum members know what your standard prices are.
Thanks,
Paul

A really straightforward answer here Paul......leave it to the chaps to fill you in though.
As an aside when you order toys wholesale, it is usual practice to have to register to see the prices as they are commercially sensitive...
These are solely my thoughts....

My guess is, whats the point. tubz vending will just say they'll beat it no matter what prices are advertised.

Hi Paul,
We do publish our standard price list for anyone who asks. It is not as competitive as Hurleys and tubz vending because they will just price match rendering it pointless. I will say all customers get a very competitive deal.
Hope this helps.

Re: Pricing and Suppliers...My Experience...Have your say
We found it was all a bit pointless Paul. Whatever we did our competitors just came out with the "we can match that." It all became a bit tiresome with some people just asking for pricelists even though they were petrified of their tubz vending contract just to get them to pricematch even though they had no intention of moving. We wanted to grow steadily and improve all aspects of what we do. In the end we have tried to build a relationship with customers. Meeting them, sometimes driving 3 or 4 hours to do is important to us. Keeping our deals with them confidential and tailoring the deals to suit both us and them. You get a feel for people. You know they are in the same boat as you. We never hassle for orders. We never expect people to use us exclusively and we don't treat our customers as mugs. We try to deal with any **** ups as quickly and as fairly as possible. We have been lucky in that a handful of independent strong minded independent operators of a decent size backed us against all the threats from elsewhere and thats been a great basis for our growth. Looking at our volumes we have sold twice as many boxes in January as we did last January and we hope to say the same again next January. We are also very lucky in that our fixed costs are incredibly low. We have 5 individual companies operating out of one large business unit. Both Jonny and I have our own independent revenue streams as well so havent needed to draw any profits out. We have no commission based salespeople or levels of management to absorb and probably have the cheapest are in the UK to recruit staff for.
