What scumbags! I have a very territorial border collie who comes with me and won't let anyone near my van. Has your van got decals? I decided against not to put temptation in thieves ways.

my van got broken into last Thursday evening, the managed to get one of the side doors open but I think they must have got scared off by my neighbour as he came out with his torch to see what they were up to, good job he was up as it was 3:00 a.m

I had £600 in coins at the front in a bag as I forgot to bring it in with me from a day of vending :tischkante:

It is getting tough out there so keep your guard up as it's dog eat dog right now

Hi, No decals, so no indication that cash is inside. Just oportunists looking for tools probably and found cash. The safe is working well and I feel more comfortable now. Had a good days takings in yesterday and couldnt get the bloody bag out.

This has made me think about my van security now.
I always leave my van unlocked at every site since my remote key broke and cant be bothered walking round to lock/unlock when getting stock out of back.
And never seem to get round to getting key fob fixed.

will defo be buying a safe know as always have £1000+ at end of the day.

I now know how they got in. They used a piece of metal and slid it down between the glass and the rubber to lift the catch. Aparrently, unless your van has dead locks, they can easily get in. You need a safe big enough to get the coin bag out, as they all spread out at the base. Mine is 150 wide by 200 by 200 high and when I had £900 in one day last week, I had to remove a third of them by hand.

I used to keep coins behind the drivers seat. Once I was followed when leaving a site, when I got to the next site, got out went round to the side door to get some stock for the next call. A van pulled up alongside, someone jumped out grabbed my money bag,£500 in it, slammed the door shut & ran off. I saw the guy jump into the van and was driven off at speed, before I could take down any details.
