Taking on an employee to run your vending round
Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of employing someone to take on part of my vending round. Could someone please tell me the best way to go about this and what type of insurances I need etc?
I was thinking of maybe paying a commission rate of 20p per pot so it would offer them an incentive to collect as much money.
What's your thoughts?
Would really appreciate any advice you may have
Cheers
Ross

Wow!
A work on the average basis of 50p per pot.
Factor in 10p for charity or 20p for commission.
And you are offering a further 20p.
So are you planning on a return per pot of 10p/20p?

I get my stock for about 35p commission is 20p and then there is 20p for the employer so I would make a profit of 25p per pot
Do you not think it's viable?

How do you get your stock for 35p?
Is it because you have very large orders etc?

I think 25p return is very viable and wish you all the best.

Cheers Pablo, yea I tend to buy my stock in bulk to get the cost down and store it all in my garage
My wife and I are expecting our first child in 3 weeks and my wife is concerned I won't be around much due to the long hours vending demands so I am looking to employ someone but have no idea of the process as iv never done it before and feel it is a big step for me.
My worries are
I will lose sites due to the relationship which I have already built with the site breaking down as they will no longer see me and the new employee may not be as friendly as I am
The employee turning out to be a thief or a complete nightmare and with the laws the way things are they may have so many 'rights' which I have to cater for
Employee suing me for hurting themselves on the machibe
They are just a few of the problems I forsee

Hi Ross
Taking on someone to do some rounds to help you out while you spend time with your missus and new baby is a very good idea.
However, I fear if you do it now with only 3 weeks until the big event, you will actually cause more problems than you will solve.
You should have got someone months ago so they would be fully familiar with you, your customers and your machines by now.
Why have you left it so late??
If I were in your position I wouldn't bother trying to employ someone at this late stage, you will only make life more stressful for you and those around you.
Like the previous poster,I really think you don't have many easy options here?
The only course of action I can think of is either hook up with another experienced vendor and let them maintain part of your round as if it was there own for a while, or as a last resort, sell part of it and spend some cash on your new family and rebuild when time permits.
All the best with the Family, which is the most important thing!

I wouldnt employ someone, I couldnt trust anyone enough especially when its all cash.
How much stock is allowed to go missing in broken machines, how may freebies can they give away to sites. How hard will they try to get into a site if the front door isnt open.
Then there is tax, nat ins, do you supply a van, holidays, sick pay etc.
But if you really want to do it I would suggest picking hte phone up to Barbara.

How many machines do you actually have?
In relation to stock, how many boxes do you order at once?
60 boxes?
100 boxes?
150 boxes?
200 boxes?
250 boxes?
300 boxes?
Intrigued to know how you need to order to get the price really low!
Cheers.
