Maygay Epoch display/PSU fault
Hi all,
New to the forum and am hoping someone can help with my Maygay Coronotation Street fruit machine. Apologies if this is in the wrong section - feel free to move it.
Switched the machine on the other day and there was a slight burning smell after a while. Then I noticed the dot matrix display had gone off. Seems like the -12V rail has died. Everything else works OK - lamps, reels, sound etc.
Now I don't know if the display board has caused the fault, or the PSU has just decided to give up the ghost. When I opened it up I could see damage to the PCB track that goes from one of the TO220 packaged double-diode. The device seems to test out OK, but obviously the track damage needs repairing, and the surface mount capacitor will need replacing as a minimum.
Don't suppose anyone can help with a circuit diagram for the PSU? Or any general advice on repairing it. Obviously I'll replace all the electrolytic caps as a matter of course.
Sorry for all the waffling! Any help greatly appreciated, as the machine was bought for me by late father and I really want to get it running again.
Cheers,
Daz

Would be surprised if PSU would cause burn out, have you tested voltage on output of supply to confirm?
As you suggest would go straight for the capacitor as they can cause some vary strange outputs when they blow.
Not the most technical on fruit machines TBH but have a small amount of experience.

Cheers for the reply. The other outputs are present, just not the -12V rail.
I'm going to have problems finding out the value of the damaged surface mount capacitor unfortunately. Can't find a schematic. Maybe someone else has one and a capacitance meter that they could check? Optimistic I know!

Re: Maygay Epoch display/PSU fault
Just rereading, are you saying the burn out is on PSU PCB or on machine PCB?

Re: Maygay Epoch display/PSU fault
Hi. The power supply has a burnt out track and a damaged capacitor (C5). I've managed to get hold of a spare power supply today, but would still like to get the other one running as a spare. Will hopefully be able to compare values etc. from my new working one.
However! The dot matrix display board is kaput, and it would seem this is what caused the power supply to fail. The damage on the display board is terminal - it looks like the inverter section has had major trauma!
So the question now is: Does anyone have a spare Saumsung 16L102DA4 dot matrix display board that they will sell me???

Re: Maygay Epoch display/PSU fault
Looks like I've dropped on a display. Just need to change the caps in the PSU and see how things go. Wish me luck!
