What do you guys usually do in terms of machines on hand?
Do you buy a minimum number of machines for stock or do you just buy to order?
I can see the benefits of buying as many cheap machines as you can as/when they become available rather than buying new but I can also see the benefits of only buying what you need and then maybe have a couple on hand in case of unrepairable breakdowns and for sites that just pop up unexpectedly.
What do you experienced operators do?

I operate at full capacity all the time and never carry spare machines If one breaks I buy a new machine, I cnat stand having machined sat around nor earning, if its an important site I take the one froJm my local pub as im om good terms with the landlord and he doesnt mind being machineless for a few days, I by a mix of new and secondhan depending on avaliabilty at the time.

I always have a spare just in case and buy them when they come up at the right price. Its not always the right time however, ask the bank manager

I have a double garage full of spare machines because-
A. I cant pass up a bargain
B. Storage is cheap ere in Suffolk ( loads of outbuildings and baaarns and the loike)
c. Lots of ppl start up in Suffolk but struggle to get established due to rural nature of towns and villages and only one city in the whole of East Anglia.

I always keep the most common spares for all types of machines I have. It's just neccessary as you could be unlucky and have half a dozen breakdowns a week. However machine wise , I only carry 1 spare machine of each type. I use these to show potential clients what they look like and then they stand in as spares while I am fixing a broken one.

Some interesting posts - I think my plan will be to buy any that are cheap while I build my round and then simply buy to order with one or two on hand as spare machines just in case.

I have 2 bargain Bouleys you can have, £50 each; one even has a spiral! They vend 93mm capsules, toy and lolly mix sells all day long. These are in pretty decent nick really - just need the room. Can post a pic next week if interested.
