Hi all,
Not long back from holiday!
after reading the forum in relation to Toblerone shrinkage, I decided to make a discrete enquiry about availability.
Toblerone is one of my best sellers.
So was due to order ten boxes however, i am a little concerned with the size adjustment as i would not want to disappoint customers with a smaller version.
As i understand from my supplier you can only fit 4 in a pot. So does anyone know where i can purchase some of these critters this weekend prior to putting an order through my supplier?
Tried Asda, Sainsbury's, Lidl & Aldi's to no avail.
Thanks for your help.
Pablo

Re: URGENT - Toblerone
Plenty of views but no answer to my quests!
But hey ho!
Just purchased some........ and my findings are [also requested by another post, but no real answers forthcoming to that OP either]
Weights:
Original 3 x Toblerones:
individual weight average = 13g [actual12.9g]
Empty Tub weight = 12g
Original Toblerone weight with three Tobs = 51g
The new Tiny's [OMG they look small]
Individual weight 8.3g [average]
if 4 in tub = 45.2g
if 5 in tub = 53.4g
if 6 in tub = 61.9g
Supplier said only 4 fits in! H'mmmm managed to get 6 in with no problems whatsoever!
So I have a dilema!
Do I do the decent thing and self-pack with 5
or [as style said] Be Dick Turpin and just use suppliers?

Re: URGENT - Toblerone
And the prices:
1 x box of Toblerones = £35 + vat = £42
1 x Tiny Tobs = 2.99 [vat included] that has contents of 41 [call it 40] 40/5 = 8 tubs
2.99/8 = 37.3p lets call it 38p + 5p for pot = 43p x 96 £41.28
So why can supplier not just put 5 in per pot and everyone is happy? Even add a couple of quid if they want!
Toblerone is a good seller for me, i can see a backlash from some customers in particular!
Might have to empty the shelves at PoundsStretcher [on my way now].

Re: URGENT - Toblerone
I think 4 is far too tight on them. Ive only just started putting them in but I do think once people have had them repeat sales will be low so Im not filling my towers now.
I managed to get them from Farm Foods for 99p per packet of 40 but in was a special offer and I only managed to get enough for 3 boxes. I put 5 in and that looked great.
It shows how big the mark up is if Farm Foods can sell them for 99p!

Re: URGENT - Toblerone
Yes, totally agree i think 4 in a pot is very stingy, hence my concern!
Have already bought 24 boxes so that is enough for 196 pots.
Will shortly be purchasing another 95 boxes so that will be enough for 779 pots or 8 x supplier boxes, also have 3 x boxes of old original stock so this should see me through several months, i can then evaluate the take up on these small toby tiny's etc.
might have to look at a completely different product.
This has nothing to do with costs, but if people see the size of those tiny's they will understand what we are going on about.
As i see it, my customers will actually be getting 18% more chocolate than they would normally get - so should have no complaints.
But supplier will lose out with no Toblerone orders from me x 10 boxes i was about to order, plus the 60/70 i order throughout the year [as well as other items of course]

Re: URGENT - Toblerone
I've just ordered some yesterday that apparently have 4 in them, so in the interest of fairness until I see them I will reserve judgement. I would say if they are the same as the ones you get in the triangular boxes for £2 at Christmas, then 4 will not be enough. I got a load last Christmas as a seasonal alternative to the plain ones, and put 5 in them as I didn't think they would sell with just 4 in them.
This might turn into a seasonal product that we can only really do at Christmas when they are on offer (like chocolate orange segments), and for the first couple of months of the year depending on shelf life. Shame as I think they s**t all over Rolo's!!

Re: URGENT - Toblerone
Has anyone received the new Toblerone's from suppliers yet?
Just want confirmation that the contents are the same as the mini Toblerone's that come in the xmas triangular boxes.
Cheers
