Went into Barclays bank and asked for a new £1 coin. "They're not released until next week". OK I'd like to order some for the release day. "You can't, we're not expecting them for at least a week".
Went on Ebay, couple of sellers had them (how?)..asking price £49.99 each.
I've prepaid £3.75 to a seller to post me one first class on the release day (must live near Bank of England or something).
First time in my life I've paid £3.75 for a £1, but I need one to test my altered mechs.

I hope this was just a one off and the other 150 will be fine!!

Re: New £1 coin farce
dont want to worry you guys but it isnt just about replacing the plate, you have to mess with retention spring on some and file lever , also i bought 20 plates and found i still had to grind them down as pound wasnt fitting in perfectly and dropping out, hence free vending prob.
gave up on them and grinded evey mech since

Re: New £1 coin farce
Im doing both, grinding some and fitting new plates. I find the chinese new plates that Hurleys had made are pretty good as are the old clenport ones. The newer clenports im grinding, takes about 10 mins.

Lol, you need to pull your finger out Steve, 1.5 billion coins hit the banks today, the old ones wont be around long. And these conversions are a pain in the ****. I haven't worked this hard since I had a proper job.

Re: New £1 coin farce
I've just ordered 100 plates from tubz vending. Are some of you having problems with the new plates ?
Is it easier to grind the edges off existing plates?
I'm a bit concerned that people are saying they are free vending. Is this because the elbow has been disturbed allowing it to go in reverse?.
Are these problems on tubz vending mechs or clenport mechs?
All comments welcome
