If you stop the tokens from going through, then you will jam the mech which in turn stops any more vends therefore , = no sales , better to just accept that you will get the odd token

The mech returns to normal position so the token can be removed

Re: 20p's and trolley tokens in a £1 vend
I tried filing the pawl down a little bit then putting it back in and trying some trolley tokens- they still went through, so I took the pawl out again and filed it down a bit more and tried a few more trolley tokens - they all went through. I did this twice more until the pawl was ultra sharp, but it still didn't work.
I tried at least 20 different types of tokens but they all went through. I did notice the pawl will sometimes stop tokens with a hole in them because it catches in the hole but it did this whether or not it was sharpened.
I know there are probably hundreds, if not thousands of different trolley tokens out there so maybe it works on some. I don't mean to contradict you Dorsetvending because it certainly sounds like a good idea, but I couldn't get it to work. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
I would be interested to hear if anyone else got this method to stop tokens going through? or any other ideas.....

Try increasing the pressure on the pointy bit a little

if you are getting a lot of 20p coins the chances are high that somebody has worked out that if you put two 20p coins together they will be the same thickness as £1 coin and will often fool your coin mech especially if it is a little worn

Just to clarify, the 20p's don't actually make the machines vend - it's just free cash for me I just thought it kinda weird that I get so many. The trolley tokens are a bit of a problem in a few machines.Peanut wrote:if you are getting a lot of 20p coins the chances are high that somebody has worked out that if you put two 20p coins together they will be the same thickness as £1 coin and will often fool your coin mech especially if it is a little worn

How do I increase the pressure? I'm pretty sure the screw that holds the bendy spring thing (sorry for the technical jargon) onto the pawl is as tight as it can be anyway.Coin Operated Group wrote:Try increasing the pressure on the pointy bit a little

Unscrew, bend in spring a little more and replace

Re: 20p's and trolley tokens in a £1 vend
I tried bending the spring and I think it did increase the pressure a bit on the 'coin reader' part but all I had to do was turn the coin mech handle with a fraction more force and the tokens still went through.
I've tried it on a couple of different machines and with loads of different tokens, but with no success. The only time the 'coin reader' stops a token is when it catches on the hole that is is many trolley tokens so they can be put on key rings.
Thanks for the suggestions anyway.
