Re using Tubs from snack towers

Post by Vend And Glow »

Hi i was just wondering if any of you collect empty Tubs from your snack towers that have been used by your customers and then re-use them?

I remember buying empty Tubs from tubz vending a year or so ago and they were quite expensive and i am sure it would be worthwhile collecting them again after use?

I would disagree with the Maxi tubs especially if you put pre-packed items in them or non food.
The smaller tubz vending size I would suggest that it may be possible to sterilise using a similar solution that sterilises baby bottles. (though this could be time consuming and not as economical as it sounds) but recycling and re-using is really something we should al be considering.

I don't think it would be that hard. In the cinema they put the 3d glasses in a dishwasher to clean them.

As long as the Maxi tubs could take the heat in a dishwasher on a lower setting then there wouldn't be a problem as the stuff you put in them is already packaged.

Trouble would be getting the Tubs back though? how could you get people, especially kids to recycle the tubs?

Lee

P.S sterile bottles are done through extreme heat(steam), the sterilizer we have at home for bottles just produces steam to do it. I also have GHD Hair straightner machines and due to the high temprature the irons remain sterile.

You can still but Milton sterilising fluid and that is for cold water sterilisation..... shouldnt have any impact on the integrity of tubs then. You are never going to get all the tubs back but even a small percentage would be better than nothing should you choose to go down the recycling route

Ok that's good then, i would imagine that it's cheaper than heating water and like you say you get the tubs to last longer. May take some time though sterilising all the tubs. Maybe you could use a dishwasher with no hot water and put the fluid in the machine?

Wouldn't work with tubz vending tubs as they have a tab that's ripped off to open them.
Also, they only cost 5.5p so might not be worth the expense.

Sound Idea... lets dig a blooming big hole by your houe then eh ? lol they might be recycleable anyway.. I dont know the composition of the tubs.

Some "Plastics" are recyclable others are not. But the way things are going we`ll soon be facing carbon taxes on tubs ... might seem far fetched at the min but the b******s are after every penny they can milk from us.

Im all for recycling however its done, landfill cant carry on for ever. OMG I TURNED INTO A TREE HUGGER :out:
