I have a brand new Clenport M81 that is just out of it's box but I can't open the lid. When I try and turn the key the locking arm won't move, it seems to be gripping the black ring too tight. I have bent 3 keys on it so far by trying to turn them with pliers etc.
I have tried twisting and turning the lid and trying to force the key round but nothing seems to work because the locking arm just won't budge. I really don't want to break the lock, any ideas anyone?
All advice is much appreciated.

Those new lids are a bugger.......if it ain't broke don't fix it! The old ones were far better......really not sure how I can help though. Return to supplier? I try and ask for easy lids if I order new towers as new ones are shocking.

Have you tried pushing hard down on the key and then turning it?

Re: Clenport M81 lid stuck
I tried pushing on the key and used some WD40 on the lock but it didn't seem to change anything, I didn't want to damage the lid itself or the machine but I started getting really ****** off after a while and tried to brace the machine with one arm and just wrench the lid off with the other - it still didn't budge.
In the end I decided to employ the 'Jeremy Clarkson' technique and got the hammer out, I put a screwdriver against the lock (at this point I couldn't give a monkey's about damaging the lock anymore, I just didn't want to accept defeat) and belted it several times with the hammer. Guess what? It worked. I managed to turn the lock with the key and open it.
The lock actually doesn't seem to be knackered either, maybe I just dislodged it a bit. After this I didn't want it to jam again so I swapped the black ring and the locking arm with one from another machine and tried locking it again.....it jammed again and I'm back to square one

If its catching, cut down the black ring...takes a while but seems to work. Also experiment mix+ match using Chinese lids/ other top segments as they're different sizes. Luckily I get loads of machines smashed so always got spares
