Hi Ade ,
i think the previous owner may have done this , as when i opened the coin mech and and took the back plate off it is slightly warped / bent , so it looks like something has been in there before and tightened too tight .
do you have a pic of where you mean to put the washer so i can see if its the same .

and COG , yeah im in the process of contacting the seller .

i ran a mazda / toyota forum for a while , so if anybody is stuck for help / service tips for any old japanese sports cars give me a shout !

not got a pic but basically undo 4 screws on back of mech and take backplate off, place a small washer at base of lever (where it sits in mech at bottom) screw backplate back on, job done, worth doing it on both levers :thumbup:
