Cashless payment/card payment

I have a potential new site, only around 50 people but he wants 2x table top coffee machines with key payment systems.

How do these work? I've only used coin mechs and cash before, does each staff member get a key with credit which then tops up daily?

What kind of machines would I be looking for ? This is probably more expensive to them than they would want to pay, I'd prefer to give him a single refurbed fusion or evolution.
