Pringles machine with reinforced segments?

Hi guys,

I've just bought a couple of second hand Pringles machines, and noticed a strange thing.... it has plastic "plates" glued on to the segments - onto each of the bits that goes from the centre out (ie between the pots), if that makes sense.

I've never noticed this before, is there a reason why someone might do this? I dont think it is to repair damage as there are no breaks in the plastic, but it does look a bit untidy as you can see the glue between sandwiched between the plastic.

It doesnt really matter, I was just curious why it might happen!

I have one the same and it hasn't been to repair damage either. Have to remove lids to fit pringles inside

The only time I have seen that part of the segments damaged is when a tower was knocked over, can only assume it is to strengthen the inside of the tower in the event of that happening.

Hi Quinch, yeah I think you're right - nothing is broken at the moment, but I suppose this would reinforce the machine in the event of it falling over etc. Seems a bit overkill to me though!

Hi Lynda, thanks for the comments, at least it is not only me who has come across this. Apart from leaving the lids off the pots, does it work ok? Or does removing the lid mean the pot is slightly too short?

I suppose people buying a pot without a lid wont be a big deal, as I've never seen anyone put a lid back on before, they just eat the lot :)

The machine still works perfectly well, it's just a minor annoyance having to remove all the lids.
(you have to be careful to ensure the foil tab is flat as if it is sticking out it can be enough to stop a tub dropping)

The most likely explanation is that the machine has been customised to fit another product of a different specification to the normal Pringle pot.
