Thats not quite right, thank heavens!
They are selling off 3000 pubs not closing them.
This is at the rate of 500 a year!
They are already selling off pubs, they are just seeking to do it more aggressively due to falling profits.

Re: Punch Taverns
I would'nt worry about it with all these pub companys, punch, enterprize, greedyking and admiral, there always closing pub but they mostly **** holes there closing!
Admiral is run by a bank and no holding company will touch because they don'nt pay they bills
Enterprize just keep putting up they rents along with greedyking.
Back twenty years ago when pubmaster was about and was sold off enterprize took all the best pubs on offer and all the crap ones where taken by punch and admiral these pubs have seen no investment in years i would'nt eithen put a machine in a pub before ive done a risk assessment.

Re: Punch Taverns
If their selling them off then that can only be good as a landlord that owns the pub is more likely to invest more in the pub than the chain and you have more of a chance of getting a machine in there.

Re: Punch Taverns
Landlords have no money. This is just a sale of a portfolio of pubs from one big company into others.National Vending wrote:If their selling them off then that can only be good as a landlord that owns the pub is more likely to invest more in the pub than the chain and you have more of a chance of getting a machine in there.
If they change the planning rules as has been suggested, they'll all be converted into houses/flats.

Re: Punch Taverns
Landlord that owns the pub usually have money, Ive seen plenty of big chains selling off pubs and not many turned into houses. Apparently its hard to get a commercial premises turned into residential during recession as councils are unlikely to approve as it is closing down a business and reducing employment pospects.BigVend wrote:Landlords have no money.
