Thats very good of you Paul. It's probably been too long now for the site I've got, but if any turn up in any of my sites I'll let you know.

Cheers

Greetings to all who have been following this thread. It is only four days old and we are pleased to be able to say that the situation has been resolved. We are very, very impressed with the response from Paul and Rob at Hurley Foods and also with the way that this forum was able to deal with the problem. We would also add that Rainbow Vending, who are new to this business, have acted very quickly and removed the machine today.

Best regards,

They are already a problem that we have come across, it hurts our profit margin as you can imagine. I know it not good when you find someone has put a machine into one of your sites with a big advertisement for help for heroes, but if you have been with a site for a while and you can offer them the same deal talk to them most sites will ask for the other machine to be withdrawn they like to know who they are dealing with and not a stranger.

Its easy to register wih help for hero's. I have and I have gain site from it (none of these have been poached from any other vender), and I am getting more sells from these sites then some of my others.

Hi Claire,
We contacted the government about this 18 months ago, but to my knowledge, no one got a reply. I am getting more an more of them. perhaps its time to contact them again, with a view to allowing them to be redemed against income tax.

You can already offset them against tax by putting them down as wastage . You shouldn't be counting as anything really as they are not turnover.

Thats true Noel, but if a pound was used, you would have profit.

My argument is that these things are being used by all sorts of companies to advertise their logos. Even the Police, DVLA and government departments are using them. Because they are the same size as a pound coin, they can be used to fraud a machine without an electronic mech.

Clearly the government has given little, or no consideration of these issues when allowing companies to produce them, so I think they should take some responsibility for our losses. If they were fake coins, they would be illegal, but they allow these to be made is ridiculous.

Thanks,

Paul

I thought that this thread would now end, but it has mutated into a thread on trolley tokens!

The only one that I have so far seen has a clear ING logo on it. From what has been said so far, it seems that the originator of each of these trolley tokens can be identified. Perhaps rather than waiting for the government to do something, we should send these tokens back to the issuer with a claim for £1 plus postage in each case. Include a letter pointing out that the token has been used fraudulently and that as the originator, we hold them responsible.
