lack of experience they somehow feel everyone is against them and there is no place for them here???
If I have ever made anyone feel like that, I apolgise, it was not intended.
I have loads of experience in several business sectors, most of it good and some bad but lessons were learned and I won't be stung again, but vending is so cut throat, I have learned a lot more since I started in vending, I am small time (100 machines) but I knew this was never, nor did I want it ever to be full time, I have many hands in many sporrans!!!
Hi Jimmy,
I have 90 machines sited and they turn over 3700- 4000 units per month on average. Do your Snack A Can machines do the same. I hope they do, but I doubt it. Being independent allows you to free yourself of the ties imposed on you by some suppliers and opens up the door for your own creative methods to emerge.
As a former franchisor whom made their fair share of mistakes I agree with all your comments...
The restrictive covenants of a franchise agreement do not belong in vending (within reason), an operator should have a desire to purchase and distribute your products via the vending channel after considering all their options and that relationship be built upon. Factors such as quality, availability and pricing of the commodity are fundamental as is brand awareness / association to said brand for your business.
We'll get enquiries every month from prospective newbie operators asking if we find sites for them and the answer is no, we'll help and train you to find sites because you know your local area better than we do - that's just common sense and reflects upon the Snack a Can model Jimmy refers to. Personally I'm not interested in taking on someone not willing to work their vending business and opt for the lazy man route, not what we're looking for and if your don't have the confidence to sell then you shouldn't be in business for yourself unless you have the ability to delegate.
The "churn" though Jimmy is a matter which sickens me to the core, I know you're being light hearted and all but the very fact that someone started up based upon what another told them and that fails, it's kinda parasitical although an unfortunate fact of business life. Yes we do it too, scanning Ebay for second hand machines and washroom business operators selling up... I was very happy to be shot of our master franchisee in England when it happened because for them it was all about the money and they personally bought up the very franchises they sold for a fraction of the asset value, sickening...

I didn't start up based upon what another person told me, I did a lot of research and met a lot of franchisees etc, i'm happy with the way it's going I just don't like certain comments and business practises of other certain people/companies and getting accused of something I didn't do, and for which to date an apology has not been forthcoming despite providing proof! THAT SERIOUSLY SICKENS ME!

Jimmy, I read that comment from another poster and have no desire to be embroiled...
Should have been clearer in that my 'pain' is when franchisees are recruited into opportunities via unsubstantiated promises, extended performance markers and this tarnishes the whole industry when these poor buggers fail. Thankfully you had the acumen to perform your own diligence unlike so many others before you. I don't know much (if anything) about you nor your business but it sounds like you have got it right, leave the bickering to those with the time to do it... and before you point out the irony in that statement I am having a wee day off today.
PS - Barbara asked me to set up a private forum for Snack-A-Can operators on our forum which I did about a year ago, never been used or made public, speak to her about it if you and the other operators want or need such a feature...
