Re: Vending Software
I went the yearly fee route because custom software is expensive and you would be surprised how many people have used Venderbase for just 1 year because they are no longer in the business.
There's no way they'd have even looked at it for £300.
I reckon there's only a handfull of people that would be in this business for more than 5 years, in which case a yearly fee would be cheaper.

If you would rather not pay yearly, I'll give you a 10 year licence for £350

Re: Vending Software
Daz,
I don't quite understand this annual licence bit. Any software I use once I've paid for it I can use it for as long as I use the computer it is installed on. With Sage I pay a small annual maintenance for support, upgrades & revisions etc. How much would you charge for a perpetual Licence?
Pete

Re: Vending Software
Most software you use is designed and aimed at hundreds of thousands of users.
Specialised Vending software would be aimed at 10-50 users.
It's not worth spending the time writing the software if you can sell it 20 times and that's it unless you can charge a decent price.
You've only got to look at how much the government pays to h e a new software system installed somewhere like the CSA. It's only a database but the pay millions!
So what price do I put on Venderbase?
£500 and sell it maybe 10 times? Sorry, it's just not worth it.
So I split it down into a yearly fee that most people don't mind paying. After all a lot of people dont see out their first year in this business.
If you really think you'll still be using vending towers in 10 years time, then you can have a lifetime licence for £400.

Re: Vending Software
Just to add, you might find that your sage yearly fee is not optional (I'm not certain on sage, but most business software works like this) and thereore is jut another way of satin its a licence.
Any business using software tailored to their business will be paying yearly.

Re: Vending Software
I found a FREE program that seems to meet my needs, Its called inventoria stock management.. You can even use it remotely and update your stock from your sites.
I dont have enough machines yet to get any real benefit from it but its http://www.nchsoftware.com/inventory/index.html available here. Please let me know if it is suitable or not... it would be nice to think I actually imparted genuinely useful information
