Taking a tower apart

Post by northern exile »

Hi - I need to get into the base of a tower machine in order to remove a broken lock.

I've removed the disks and central rod. I see that there are 3 bolts going from the bottom of the base through to the top. I've removed the 3 screws at the top.

How do I now get these bolts out - is it just a matter of hitting them out from the top with a bit of brute force?

Any help much appreciated

Use a straight headed screwdriver and undo all 3 - you will see central threaded bar in the middle - just tap this with hammer and base will come loose

Hi,

I am curious to know why you need to dismantle the tower to remove a lock. Is it the cash box lock?

Thanks,

Paul

Yes it's the cash box lock... when I tried to unlock it I managed a quarter of a turn and it then completly jammed. I used a paid of pliers to try and turn it back but that resulted in the key being destroyed. I now need to get behind the lock and try and hack-saw it out (and get my cash out as well)

You dont need to take it apart-you can hacksaw the lock off at the back of the machine.

You can also drill out the centre of the lock.

Thanks,
