Hi guys
Because i have a few gay clubs on my books i have had a couple ask why i don't get a poppers vending machine!
Now poppers are used by the gay community and are sold in the cloakrooms but where does this stand legally if i put them in a vending machine?
Has this been tried before?
Cheers Lee

Re: Poppers/liquid gold vending machine
Grey area I suppose as the legalitys around selling them are a grey area. You are supposed to have a medical license to sell them as amyl nitrate but they get around this by advertising as room odorizers.
I suppose if machine is branded up bright with adequate warning signs and obviously well boxed up.
Profits in popper are great!! and I bet you would sell a lot.
One problem may be they are a fire hazard and so may be issues over storing so many of them together. Im sure one of the toilet vend experts may be able to shed some light on the matter, but definately worth finding out more!!!!

Yea lot's of grey areas but i suppose if you sold a machine to them that could vend them and other products and do not have any advertising on them(let the venue put the stickers on)
My machines would actually vend them if i put them in a tube!

Sorry been quite a while since I have logged onto this forum.kris@tubzbrandsltd wrote:Hi,

Three things to consider and also what is (a) technicality (b) law and ignorance thereof (c) potential.
You could call your vending machine a dry store which is a lockable metal cabinet hence complying COSHH as well as that for flammable liquids. Selling any item which borders upon being legal though isn't a great idea from a vending machine because there's no human intervention, mislabel the product or point of sale and you could be in bother, also poppers are meant to be sold to those over a certain age so if the venue has the ability to let those below that age into their premises you have no control over whom might make a purchase as the vendor is unattended.
As to potential, well considering the girth of the vessel containing the liquid you are limited as to which machines can actually vend the product / carton and from experience the gay market accounts for less than 5% of impulse sales. Personally, I'd give this a wide berth...
