If anyone on here is thinking of bidding on this my advice would be..................................................................... don't waste your money.
I started off in this sector of vending in 1987 and yes, I know this truly makes me a fossil LOL, but there was good money in it then as you could put them in almost any boozer and see a decent return!
boy o boy, times have changed since the 80s media fuelled AIDs advertising campaigns implying there was a grim reaper watching over you if you weren't wearing a condom!!
I still have a load of these machines on walls and 90% of them are a waste of time.
I, do however, have a core of successful and very busy pubs with decent machines that sell Golden root as well as condoms that return £50 -£150 a month in sales which is very worth while, but it is literally one in ten pubs that worth bothering with now.
I have plenty of 2nd hand machines between £20- £50 each if anyone wants to install 11 machines for less than a quarter of the price of that eBay listing!!

Hey there, I'm new to the forum and market.

Recently I moved to Norway and noticed that these vending machines are rare...
I work at a bar and we don't have them, I was thinking of buying and installing just one to see how it goes. The bar is full of clients between the age of 18-40, there are 3 washrooms. 1 upstairs that is rarely available, it's for males/females. Then there are 2 washrooms downstairs, one for males and one for females...both washrooms downstairs are on total opposite sides of the bar area.

My plan is to buy this --> http://www.securevendingsystems.co.uk/p ... _pw220.htm
It costs £130 or $205 USD plus a 3 sided design is £35 or $55 USD
The machine fits 25 packs of condoms

I've found a place to source Durex condoms for $1 per pack (MOQ 50). Each pack has 3 Durex condoms (shipping isn't including in this price)

The 3 pack of condoms sell here for 41 NOK/ea or $7 USD so I would sell them at 40 NOK/ea (there are 20 NOK coins here)
So basically my initial investment will be approximately $400 (2400 NOK) after taxes plus whatever else because I like to round up.

Selling out would give me 40x25 = 1000 NOK
Tax here is 25% so I would pay 250 NOK to the government
Leftover profit would be 750 NOK which means I would have to sell out slightly over 3x to break even.

The kids (18-20) here bang like rabits, we catch people having sex in washrooms roughly 2-3 a month.

Looking for advise as to whether or not I should move forward with this or not.
Also, how does it work for the bar itself? I haven't approached the owner yet to ask his permission. What are the advantages for him other than promoting safe sex to his clients? Do you usually provide barowners with a certain cut from the vending machine sales? Do you pay monthly for them to stay there...? How does that work normally?

Thanks in advance to your advice

Hi Alex,

Commissions are usually paid 10-20% is normal. The best advise I can give is try it and see, don't just stick to condoms though. Look at mini sex toys and herbal viagras. The market here for condom machines is pretty poor Im sure some of the larger operators will offer more advice. But general consensus with vending is if its new and your in first, you make the money!!

Thanks for the feedback, I will definitely look into the other things. The only reason I was sticking to condoms was because I get a bulk discount with the QTY purchase, I'm not sure if the vendor will even allow me to purchase half, I'll ask.

I talked to my manager at the bar today, he's a buddy of mine. I didn't tell him about my idea yet since I still want to research a little more. But I did ask about the current vending machine, you don't buy product(s) from it, you win prizes like a gaming console, straight up cash (like 5000 NOK) and some other rather good prizes...however I've never seen anyone actually win any of them, just heard of people winning...

Anyways, I asked who owns it and how much they pay to have it in the bar...the answer sucked, the owner owns it. This kinda discouraged me to pitch the vending machine in the washroom idea because I think he'd just prefer to own and manage it himself.

This being said, what kinda advantages can I say to encourage him earning a commission from me rather than him just owning and maintaining it himself?

Thanks again!

The advantages to him are you are responsible for the machine including damage and theft, any servicing (you have to replace the battery packs on a regular basis depending on how often used) You have to buy and store stock, he doesnt have to worry about sales and just gets his percentage for renting you the wall.

Have you considered used machines? I beieve Nigel on here (Flint Vending) could offer you several at less than half the price.

You need to consider Public Liability insurance though particularly with it hanging on the wall!

Good luck

Yea good points, I guess I thought that he wouldn't care about being liable for those types of things considering he owns the vending machine upstairs...however, it's in clear view of everyone and very close to where you can get served. The wall where I want to put it is more vulnerable to drunk idiots/thieves trying to break/steal from it.

I saw some posts about used machines but disregarded them because I figured it'd cost too much to ship them to me in Norway. Maybe not tho? I'll look the username up now.

Thanks!
