King of the Tower!

Post by PabloV8 »

Does anyone know:

1. How many operators that use Towers?
2. The average Towers that each operator has?
3. The most saturated area that Towers operate?
4. The best site anyone has I.e number of tubs sold per week!
5. The worst site anyone has with number of tubs sold per week!

I can see we have over six hundred members on the forum, but surely there is more than that out there!

I have heard of one person who has thousands of machines and another who has over three hundred!

An awful lot of money therefore tied up in machines and stock, especially if things go wrong!

I think that some will be a little reticent in releasing there figures, but I believe there was an anonymous poll a few years ago which gave a good indication. See if you can do a historical search .

The poll is out of date... The industry has exploded since I joined. There are many times more operators now of all different sizes. If you grow consistently it doesn't take long to get hundreds of towers as they are relatively cheap and offer a quick return compared to other machines. Best people to ask would be the suppliers as they will know from order volumes.

Thanks part-timer.

I would never take as gospel anything the suppliers say - they have both stretched the truth with me on several occasions!

I was told by one of the suppliers when I first started that the south coast is a very saturated area, but from what the guys on here say it's the midlands that is completely saturated now.
As for the best site I have had, I once dropped a machine at a pub a year ago and they rang me back 4 days later to come and fill it up, when I got there it had sold 79 tubs in 4 days!! That was the best weeks sales I ever had from a new machine, but the machine in question still does about £50 a month in sales.
As for the worst machine I have a machine at Courtneys gym here in York, one of the first machines I got (about 2 years ago). I have only been there about 6 or 7 times in the last 2 years, and every time it has sold about 20 tubs, I must have sold no more than a hundred tubs in 2 years!!
The problem with it is I lost the keys for it a few months ago, so every time I go to have a look it's sold a couple more, but I can't actually fill it back up. The place is shuttling down in a few weeks so I will have to move the bloody thing and p**s about with a new lock!

I'm sure the worst machine in York is the new tubz vending guy who recently put a machine in the local Booker.... hahahah what a d**k :50:

I had a pub that was doing 50+ a month unfortunately it closed down for personal reasons, so had to remove tower!

Another pub was doing about 35 tubs, had to remove tower due to refurbishment - they did not want tower back due to the lack of space after refurbishment!

Pubs in general do okay, the ones I have left not so - very few punters going to those pubs!

Just lost another today from a hairdresser - took 103 tubs in seven months, it's is also getting refurbished so no room left!

That was working out at 15 tubs a month so was happy with that ticking over etc.

Looks like I am going to consider closing about 8 sites but could be ten, so need to respite them over the winter etc.

I guess we take the rough with the smooth - happy days.

I have lost 3 sites over the last couple of months due to relocation/new management, and have just found out another 2 sites are due to close before Christmas! :(

Gonna have a big push over the next few weeks for more sites, and do a bit myself. I had Gavin (dorset) here this time last year and he found 17 or 18 in 5 days, gonna have ago and try and beat his total...

Hi Pablo,
I had about 4 hours at it on Wednesday and got four sites, two pubs and two hairdressers. It seemed ok as I only asked 8 people and got 4 out of it, with two saying they were interested but had to speak to the other half, and only one actually saying no. I went in a few other places but the bosses were out and I didn't get chance to call on the way back, due to me having a pint and a chat in the places that said yes!! :)
I'm going to get some more machines in the next week or two and see if I can get a few more out before Christmas, but as I'm finding at the moment, the problem with finding more sites means finding more money for machines....
