Re: Taking on an employee to run your vending round
Regards employing someone - I would employ a retired and yet spritely person, a person who appreciated the opportunity and had good form, punctual, reliable and honest, willing to work perhaps a couple of days a week on a three month trial basis!
A kind of try before you buy into the partnership!
You have obviously took a long time to build up what you have so caution is the key!
Do you not have any family or friends who can recommend a cast iron person?
Good luck.

If you order 75 boxes you get a better rate per box and free delivery. Brings the pot price to around 35-40p per pot depending on the brands you order.
Employing is easy enough but it's the holiday pay etc that adds up. Legally all you need is employers liability.

Hi Ross
Congrats on the impending birth.
As Andy has said in a previous post I would advise giving me a call as there is a hell of a lot of management and work that you need to do when employing staff. The opportunities for skimming, missed calls, stealing petrol, stock, cash, incorrect paperwork, forgetting to fill in paperwork etc is endless and to be truthful you can never protect yourself from the little darlings, no matter how close you are to the person or how long they have worked for you YOU MUST NEVER TRUST A SINGLE PERSON AND MANAGE THEM ALL THE TIME which can get quite oppressive if you are not in control and on the ball. I could write a book on the subject! (there's an idea!!). Order your copies now, only £99.00 tee hehe.
Kind regards,
Barbara

All of the above plus work place pension which is law from 2016.
It's a minefield.

Trick is to employ someone and pay them below £10k then as the employer you don't have to contribute. This obviously won't apply to many companies out there as most people do earn in excess of £10k who are working full time.Central2vend wrote:All of the above plus work place pension which is law from 2016.

Unless I've misunderstood.

Interesting. I stand corrected then. Here is what I just found on the Government Website:
How much goes into your workplace pension
Unlike other ways of saving, a workplace pension means you aren’t the only one putting money in. Your employer has to contribute too, as long as you earn over £5,824 a year.
That clears that one up then. Together we get there.
Regards,
Barbara

Hi Nigel,FlintVending wrote:Hi Ross
Taking on someone to do some rounds to help you out while you spend time with your missus and new baby is a very good idea.
However, I fear if you do it now with only 3 weeks until the big event, you will actually cause more problems than you will solve.
You should have got someone months ago so they would be fully familiar with you, your customers and your machines by now.
Why have you left it so late??
If I were in your position I wouldn't bother trying to employ someone at this late stage, you will only make life more stressful for you and those around you.
Like the previous poster,I really think you don't have many easy options here?
The only course of action I can think of is either hook up with another experienced vendor and let them maintain part of your round as if it was there own for a while, or as a last resort, sell part of it and spend some cash on your new family and rebuild when time permits.
All the best with the Family, which is the most important thing!
I always leave things to last minute mate! The whole pregnancy has flown past and tbh been so busy vending didn't really take much thought on the work situation until now. I always thought it was her job to look after the babies clean the house and cook me dinner

How much stock is allowed to go missing in broken machines, how may freebies can they give away to sites. How hard will they try to get into a site if the front door isnt open.
Then there is tax, nat ins, do you supply a van, holidays, sick pay etc.
But if you really want to do it I would suggest picking hte phone up to Barbara.
Andy
Thanks Andy I will make contact with Barbara

In relation to stock, how many boxes do you order at once?
60 boxes?
100 boxes?
150 boxes?
200 boxes?
250 boxes?
300 boxes?
Intrigued to know how you need to order to get the price really low!
Cheers.
