Post by PabloV8 »

Hi,

Anyone use the Nescafe Alegria commercial coffee machine?

had a coffee out of one in Bookers and it was amazing!

Really asking about its reliability/performance/costs etc

Pablo.... Don't!!

We have one at my hotel (because we are too lazy to serve people ourselves), and it is nothing but trouble. It's always getting gunked up inside, the drip tray capacity is pathetic, and the powdered milk Nescafe sell is c**p.
The best coffee comes from machines that grind beans as they go, and have a refridgerated tank with fresh milk.

I know nothing about coffee machines and yet i need one for a customer.

Anyone any suggestions?

i would rather have recommendations from people on here than from the publicity provided online from manufactures etc..

Cheers

Flavia are good Pablo. New they are around £1k and you can pick them up second hand around the £350 mark. Lots of varieties of drinks to choose from, branded as well by Mars.

We have had one for home use for years, very reliable. It is a commercial machine, compact and looks good too. We used one at a hospital waiting room and were impressed with quality. I have seen many of the Flavias in many locations and I highly recommend them.

At our offices we had the Kenco one which was also good, but Flavia in our opinion had more variety and better tasting drinks.

Thanks Barbara,

Will have a look at Flavia - we need a machine that does not require plumbing in to mains as it will be sited in a temp location whilst the old building is knocked down and rebuilt.

Mate

You may find the Kenco better as it holds a good tank full of water (approx 17 cups) before you have to refill. I have a contact who offers refurb machines at £275 + VAT

They can (or I ) can sell you the singles that go in the machine, you just need milk pods sugar and stirrers. Oh and cups. Can sort you out with all of these if required

I presume you dont need a coin mech? If you do they appear to be more readily available from Flavia although their sachets are dearer.

I only sell coffee, tea Cappuccino and Hot Chocolate. You can get over 30 selections however these are the most popular

Good point Steve regarding the water tank. Flavia holds 2.5 ltrs and does not need plumbing same as Kenco.

Hi Steve,

Meeting customer on Saturday to find out exact requirements, we only spoke briefly prior to going on holiday.

They require the machine for about 12 months so will get back to you.

cheers

Would be better on a counter top than on their own stands (costs more for you and no return)

Also how many vends do they think they will do a day? If lots consider a powder machine
