Broken Barrels

Post by Style »

Just a quick question.

Broken barrels. What do people do. I must have 30/40 towers with broken barrels.

Does onyone bother replacing the barrels. I just dont feel I have the time to strip towers and fit new barrels. But I dont want to bin them either. Probably a lot of them would also need new mechs as these have been nicked for other towers. Is it cost effective to fix them or do you just throw the bases out?

Cheers

I've replaced some, but now I just bin them. It's easier to strip it for spares and pick up an entire replacement tower for £40-£50 on ebay

I have exactly the same problem, they just seem too good to just throw away but I guess we just have to be ruthless and throw them out otherwise they just end up taking up too much space and start making us unproductive

Got exact same problem.
Attic has at least 30 towers all with broken barrels.
Keep thinking I will get all working spare machines sited and then start to repair but never happens.

Do people just take them local tip.
My local tip complain when I turn up in car with empty cardboard boxes never mind machines.

Have bought one of the new plastic barrels to try out but ain't got a clue how to take old broken metal barrel out and replace.

I think thats me decided. Mine will be going to the tip minus the rings, locks etc. Id does seem a waste though as the bases are all good!

I dont even have to take my cardboard to the tip Mark. Local bin men are great around here they will take anything. I go through about 15 sweet boxes, 30 Pringle trays plus the big boxes thet toys come in every week and they take the lot.

I used to do the same. got fedup with binning good machines and there is only so many rings you can stock! All mechs and barrels are repairable.

Got a pallet load of spares from Clenport. Now I repare everything. The new single piece drums from Clenport vastly reduces jams and is a real upgrade when fitted to Chinese made towers. it's the others that should be scrapped!

Andy/Ross I'll swap a few drums for a few broken chinese machines (minus mechs & backplate locks).
