What bank do you use?

Hi Guys,

Just a general question as Santander are being a nighmare with regards to banking coins.

They say we can use only post office and anything over £250 will have a charge on it. I've still not been charged as I've managed to let me bank £1K as a 1 off but starting to run out of post offices.

Surely nobody else has this problem?

Metro bank have a free change machine, you don't even have to bank with them.
Tip coins in and it counts them and prints out a slip with you change for notes.
I use it weekly and there is no maximum amount.

TSB are great for banking coins, at least my local one was in Glasgow was.
I used to take hundreds there every month from doing gardening.

Banks who used to be building societies don't generally like handling change.

Try the Post Office and open an account with them (free banking?) alternatively you will have to open an account with one of the main high street banks and negotiate 18 months free banking.

I pay for my sweets with £1 coins straight into a machine at HSBC. I think a lot of the big banks now have the counters.

Also I managed to pick up an absolutely fantastic site recently, 2 x toy machines, 2 x sweet towers. Its absolutely packed with kids. I only got it because I supply the landlord with 700 x £1 coins a week in exchange for notes.

Open a new ltd company , open new bank account , get 2 years free banking . Submit books yearly as not trading . Bank your coins for free , then transfer to your normal trading account .

I've been with First Direct for ages and highly recommend them.

24 hour 7 day UK call centre, and you can use branches of HSBC for your counter services.

For customer service, you cant beat them (in my oppinion, of course!). I've no connection with First Direct other than being a satisfied customer :)
