Given that the small Pringles had a large price hike last year and consequently, hit profit margins, I suspect that we shall no doubt see another price increase sometime soon.... so my questions are:
1.
Is there a competitor to Pringles? If so what is the product and price?
2.
Are you already thinking along this route and if so, what would you eventually offer other than Pringles?
Cheers.

Re: The Future of Pringles
Pringles are good for a few years yet. Pots for Pringles machines work out too expensive. I'd suggest if anything its a change of coin mech to £1.20 or maybe £1.50.
Hurleys did offer a similar crisp product a few years go but it didnt sell.

Works if you can get them out with a 10% charity donation, otherwise tight margins. Another way to look at them is as part of the overall picture...as with any retail business the stars prop up the also rans.

Re: The Future of Pringles
Poundstretcher stopped doing Pringles a while ago and now do their own version in the same size pot and a few pence cheaper but I seriously doubt they would sell anywhere near as well. It's like own-brand cornflakes, might be cheaper but they don't taste the same and people like brands they are familiar with

I was thinking more in terms of what to replace Pringles with, as in another product!

Re: The Future of Pringles
Not sure how much the pots are but I guess in excess of 12p each based on what the smaller ones cost. Because of the size of the pots I cant see that anything other than Pringles is worth putting in them.JavaGreen wrote:I was thinking more in terms of what to replace Pringles with, as in another product!

Re: The Future of Pringles
I haven't bought any for a while but I was paying 10p + VAT from tubz vending per pot including lid. I've tried loads of different stuff over the years and some other products can work if they are tailored to specific sites, I've got community centres where they have bingo, coffee mornings etc where biscuits can work and KP Choc Dips can also be a good seller (they vend ok in a pot with no lid) but to be honest having specific products for specific sites is a bit of a pain in the ar*se when loading the van so the sales have to justify it. I sometimes have 5 rows of Pringles and 2 of something else but overall Pringles massively outsells everything else so I only do this in a handful of sites now where I know it works

Re: The Future of Pringles
I am converting all my pringles machines to £2 vend by the end of 2021
I think the Pringles brand is a premium enough product to justify £2 especially from a vending machine
I think this could open up even more doors to pubs who would not allow us to install Pringles towers next to sweet towers as we could afford to give 50/60p commission per sale
