Problem Mech

Post by Snackmore »

Put a new (to me) chinese sweet tower in a site and got a phone call to say it wasn't working, cant be sure I tested it before it went out to be honest, yes lesson learnt.

However the problem was the mech, the silver thing with the spring attached on the left side stop the coin cog turning? Any ideas? Luckily I had a mech to swap

might be the old fake pound coin being slightly too big. Need to grind out chamber a little bit then even the fake ones go through

Steve,

This is a common problem with chinese mechs. You just need to file the needle on the end as in my pic and your pound flows by ok and doing this stops the 1p in paper trick to some extent. You may also want to place a washer as in the second pic between the other needle and the plate, as these mechs can be tampered with from the side creating reverse vending, which empties your tower, when they are successful.

If you have an oversised pound, it fits tight in the coin carrier. Then you need to open the carrier up, but be careful doing this, as it is less than a mm that you need to remove, or the mech will not work.

I have tried putting a couple of pics on here, but they are blurred. If you pm me your e-mail, I will send them to you.

Cheers,

Paul

Its not the coin that is the problem, its the needle bit (there is one each side) not the thing that measures the thickness.

Basically this drops in and stops the mech from turning even if a normal coin is in?

Hard to explain in words, you might be talking about the same bit?

Get a metal file and remove a the silver thing, it's called a pall I think. File it slightly, replace and it will vend perfectly :-)

Another question? With the mech off I have tried to put through a 1p and a 20p but they just get stuck. I very often find them in the cash box though (extra to the amount of vends) so how do they drop through? Cause I cant get the buggers to now!

Am worried that if someone puts a 1p or 20p in the machine will then be out of service until I clear it?

Help!
Steve

Think I have just answered that by tightening the mech up too much?

it isnt the lever that needs filing even though you have done it and its cured it, its the spring lever behind it tensioned to tight, take it out and bend it back slightly

Ade good point the only rider I would add is please be careful as the springs are fairly brittle so can sometimes snap. Happened to me at busy time at holiday park with hundred of kids nicking my stock....oh how I laughed..... :liar:
