I have been grinding some carriers but also got some new Clenport carriers to see what they were like but despite the previous advice given in this thread found it really difficult to get the circlips off without breaking them. Would like to know if people who have replaced the carriers are generally just putting new circlips on or if they have are managing to get them off intact?

Is the correct diameter 9mm as internal and external diameter are slightly different? If it is 9mm I found these on Cromwell website that look like they would do the job-

Does anyone have any tips for getting screws out of coin mechs that seem virtually welded on. Ive tried WD40 and brute force.

If all else fails you can cut the head off the screw using the standard cutting disc that comes in the box with the Dremel (or similar bit). Then once the other screws have been removed and you can take off the plate, clapping the remainder of the screw with a pair of pliers should give you enough leverage to turn it off.

My personal choice though, if you have plenty of spare mechs, is to just chuck it in a box for another day

So I converted all my mechs to accept both coins by grinding them out and am now converting them to accept only the new £1 coin and was re-reading all the advice in this thread, is the general consensus to adjust the tension in the spring (if not fitting new coin carriers)?
When grinding them out back in March it occurred to me another way of doing it is just grinding the right hand side of the coin carrier hole a fraction more so the lever will stop the carrier turning if an old £1 coin is in it but still be pushed up enough by the slightly bigger new £1 that the carrier continues to turn and vends correctly. Any thoughts?

Another video would be much appreciated Ade...........

I wont be spending all that time cutting out the old £1 coin. By the time the banks wont accept them people will have got rid of them all.
