Crane 765 programming

Post by withnail »

I have a Crane 765 snack machine with a problem that's driving me nuts..
The top 4 trays all have 4 products, and all trays have 4 motors with double spirals connected by gears.
The status of the top 2 trays is fine and are reading A. A. A. A. and B. B. B. B.
Tray D is missing 2 motors on the display, and is only showing D. D.
I've had this problem before and have usually solved it by re-connecting the wiring harness at the back of the tray or changing an incorrect price.
However, this time tray C is showing C. C. C. C. C. (x5) even though there are only 4 motors present.
My question is, is it possible via the program to add/remove tray motors/letters?
All I can get it to do is change from a letter C to a cross symbol, I can't actually remove the 5th C.
The main problem is D, but because I'm seeing 5 C's I'm thinking it's a programming problem rather than the wiring.
I've also swapped a known good wiring harness from B to D but it remains exactly the same.
The manual only talks about coupling the motors which is not the issue.

Tell me then haha
I could get my head around missing/less tray letters, but couldn't work out how it was seeing more motors than there actually is...
I've been a car mechanic for the last 32 years, so I'm pretty handy ;-)
A friend of mine has recently bought a vending company and I've just started working with him (for a change), 160+ machines and it's a new world for me!

Firstly switch the trays, a working one for a faulty one. If the fault follows the tray its the loom, if the fault stays on same row its tray rail pcb

Just did that this morning, switching trays made no difference so like you say, probably the tray pcb. I will swap the pcb next time just to make sure, and then try and find one online.
I've seen a couple of UK suppliers for that sort of thing but Brexit's made it a right pain to order stuff from the UK online.
It doesn't turn up, then you get a letter from Belgian customs saying you have to pay an extra 20 quid before they'll send it on to you...

Thanks guys, actually just sorted it today. It was the tray PCB. Also sorted 3 other Crane's with the same problem but they all had broken wires right at the end where they're crimped onto the pcb connector. Found a good guy in the Netherlands that has a load of new and used parts that's only an hour away from me. No more headaches, for the time being ;-)
